Mary Anne O’Malley draws inspiration from her observations of nature. Using watercolor and graphite, she offers a close-up artistic interpretation of plants and animals. Her work will be on display at Ripple River Gallery in Aitkin until August 14th.

Her skills in topography and landscaping led to work for museums and visitor centers including the Lewis and Clark Museum in Montana; Witchita Mountain Visitor Center in Oklahoma; Big Bend National Park in Texas; and Monterey Bay Visitor Center in California.

Brainerd Public Library

A new exhibition of Nichole Delafield’s artwork is on view at the Brainerd Public Library through September. The exhibition includes 14 watercolor prints and an acrylic mixed media artwork.

Her work includes fine art using pastels, watercolors and acrylics. She also loves to share her love of art and design through her signature hand-painted silks. Design work for women includes clothing and accessories featuring these distinctive pieces.

Writing is another form of expression for Delafield. Gull Lake Memories: A Kayaking Adventure is a travel journal and memoir sharing stories and paintings from the Brainerd Lakes historic area.

The Crossing Arts Alliance

The Crossing Arts presents A Collection of Souls from Around the World, Photography by Claudia Allene at their gallery in Brainerd town centre.

The exhibition shows the photography of Claudia Allene. Beginning in 2013, Allene embarked on a three-year solo journey around the globe, visiting 41 countries including Peru, China, Mongolia, India and more.

There will be an artists’ reception on Friday, July 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wine and light bites will be served. The public is invited. This exhibition is sponsored by the Gather On 3 Event Center.

Allen’s project is made possible by a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council with funding from the McKnight Foundation.

This exhibit is funded in part by Minnesota constituents through grants from the Five Wings Arts Council and the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative grant from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library

Nature Perspectives: The Landscape Photography of Donald Phillips is on display at the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby through August 31.

The exhibit features 20 black and white photographs taken by Phillips, a former Emily resident, of Little Pine Route Farm, the St. Croix Scenic Waterway and Fort Snellings Pike Island.

The opening hours of the library are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
