WHAT DID YOUNG PEOPLE PRESS YOU ABOUT THE UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS? >> YOU ARE SO EXCITED AND FASCINATE WITH THIS IDEA. I THINK THE MUSEUM IS CAPTURING MANY INITIATIVES TO BECOME A MUSEUM FOR THE WORLD, OF COURSE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, FOR THE CITY OF BOSTON. WE WANT BOSTONERS TO FEEL THAT THIS PLACE IS THEM. YOU HAVE FOLLOWED MY CAREER FOR SOME TIME SO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I’VE BEEN AT THE MUSEUM AND THAT I DON’T JUST SAY THESE WORDS. THERE ARE THINGS I CANNOT MENTION IN THIS SEGMENT THAT THE MUSEUM ENSURE THAT THE DOORS OF THE MUSEUM FEEL OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY IT SERVES. KAREN: WE WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE OBAMA PORTRAITS DISPLAYED IN CHICAGO. THERE WILL BE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE THESE PORTRAITS FOR FREE HERE IN BOSTON. WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS? >> SECURE. IT IS AGAIN VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE MUSEUM FIND WAYS TO ENSURE IT IS AS MUCH INCLUSIVE AS POSSIBLE. AS I RIGHT SEE ON THE SCREEN THERE ARE FOUR DAYS OFF FOR YOU TO GET IN AND VIEW THE PORTRAITS. JUST, YOU KNOW, YOU GET A TASTE AND FEEL OF HOW THE MUSEUM BEGINS TO WORK AS IT KEEPS PUSHING FORWARD. KAREN: NOW FOR THE COMMUNITY PEAS. EXPLAIN WHAT THE COMMUNITY PORTRAITS OF LEADERSHIP PROJECT IS AND SOME OF THE SUBMISSIONS YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED? >> YES. I AM VERY PROUD THAT PORTRAITS OF WILLEY ORY AND MISTY T COPELAND THE BALLERINA HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED. THIS IS WHAT WE HOPE PEOPLE DO WHEN THEY PAINTING OR DRAWING A PORTRAIT OR TAKING A PHOTO OF SOMEONE WHO IS A LEADER IN THEIR LIFE. WE KNOW THESE LEADERS COME IN MANY FORMS AND FACETS, SO IT COULD BE A TEACHER, A PARENT, ANYONE. BUT WE HOPE PEOPLE REALLY USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPLY A PORTRAIT AS WE START NEAR 2000 TO SUBMIT TO THE MUSEUM IF YOU EVER WANT TO SEE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO CREATE AS AN ARTIST OR AS A PERSON OR SOMEONE WHO LOVES TO CREATE ATTEMPTING THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME, WE RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS SO YOU CAN ENTER AND HANG YOUR ARTWORK ON THE WALLS OF THE MUSEUM.
